One of movie going audiences favorite past times is the hot buttered popcorn washed down with a frosty cola. During the explosive growth of the video store industry, Cinemagic Marquee was the company that created the private label microwave popcorn campaigns found in many of the largest video store chains of the 1980s and 1990s.
To capture the attention of the marketplace, we even created a point of purchase display that would eminate the scent of hot buttered popcorn to customers as they approached the checkout counter with their movie selections, inducing the appetite and the sale of our own clients line of microwave popcorn. To make the campaign even more appealing we took a page from the breakfast cereal industry and placing movie graphics on the side of the bag. This product placement was even more enticing when the movie studios paid in the form of soft dollar co-op marketing.
The Drink Thing was created in the late 1980s and marketed by a company called The Thing Tank. Cinemagic Marquee owned a controlling interest and began to promote the Drink Thing through its movie theatre and stadium clients. In addition, The Drink Thing was used on shopping carts, boats, golf carts, wheelchairs and even bicycles.
